Big announcement from Google, now free will have to pay for the use of Google photos

Google photos Not free From 1 June

Google is going to end the unlimited high-quality storage policy found on photos. The company has announced that users using Google Photos will not receive free uploads starting on June 1, 2021. From next year, if you upload high-quality photos or videos, it will count towards your 15 GB Google Drive storage limit. Google said in a blog post that "your memories are even more welcome", requiring the company to change its policy.

No free uploads since June 1, 2021: what does this mean?

From June 1, 2021, all your photos or videos will be counted into free 15GB storage. This free storage comes with a Google account. Therefore, if the provided storage space becomes full, you will need to purchase a Google One subscription to get more storage.

Currently, Google is offering unlimited backup options for "high quality" photos and videos. However, photos are automatically compressed to 16MP and video in high definition. There is also an express option, which provides free unlimited storage. If you have chosen the original quality option, the new changes will not affect you. Already counts all of your "original quality" photos against the storage cap in the Google Photos application. If you have a Google Pixel phone, then you do not need to worry because Google will allow you to upload photos and videos on high definition settings.

Why is Google Storage Policy changing?

David Lieb, head of Google Photo Products, stated on Twitter that the policy needed to be changed because the free backup is a big cost to the company. This is a necessary step to "align the primary cost" of providing free service while accepting the "primary value" of online storage.
