Actually it will have to go back a few years. In 2017, the Royal Society for Public Health UK brought out a study, according to which "the feature of hiding the Like Count on social media is very important on the mental health of youth".

Experts argue that the removal of Like Button or Like Count for Facebook and Instagram users can help reduce their mental state to a great extent of restlessness, anxiety and one way social pressure.

Since then, discussion started on the internet about one such social media features. And when it comes to social media, how about the 'social media' world without mentioning Facebook? Therefore, Facebook also decided to take these arguments on social media seriously.

After this, in the year 2019, Instagram introduced the feature of hiding Like Count on the post for the first time. While presenting this, the company had claimed that the move would play an important role in keeping users away from frustration and stress during the time spent on the platform.

How to Hide Like Counts?

From today you can choose to hide all Like Counts on all posts (posts made by others) in your feed on both Instagram and Facebook. With this, you can hide all like counts on your post as well.

Moreover, you can also use this feature on selected posts on Instagram. Within a few weeks you will get the convenience of these selected posts on Facebook.

To take advantage of this feature, users on Instagram have to go to the "Posts" section on their Settings tab. At the same time, they will see an option to close the Like Count.
